About the Program
What is Basic Training?
Just our name tends to give away the
main idea of the program: we're modeled
on military basic training, or "boot
camp". In that sense, we are true to the
military source of our inspiration. Each
class lasts six weeks, and we meet 3
days per week for one hour of
calisthenics, body-resistance exercises,
partnered exercises, and running. Also,
as you might expect, The Original
Basic Training (we just call it
"Basic Training") is a very physically demanding
fitness program.
In the fifteen years we've been in
operation, we've seen a lot of
homegrown boot camp programs come and
go. A few have succeeded and done well.
Most have sprung up in response to
public interest in the boot camp fitness
concept but have ultimately failed
because they have either tried to
replicate a caricature of actual
military boot camp (complete with
time-wasting tirades and tantrums), or
because their programs just weren't
challenging enough to live up to
expectations.
We know you're here to get into great
shape...not to pretend
you joined the army. But we also
understand that the military concept
makes an excellent environment for
achieving your fitness goals. So while
you won't find our instructors dressed
up like Marine Corps drill instructors
or calling you nasty names, you will
find that we'll likely push you harder
than you've ever been pushed before, and
you'll find that The Original Basic
Training provides the perfect blend
of challenge, accountability,
camaraderie, and fun.

In closing, it's important that we
also make clear that The Original
Basic Training is for everyone...therefore it's for you! Our
classes are made up of men and women,
ages from adolescents to senior
citizens, and every physical condition
between couch potato and serious
athlete. Remember, you aren't competing
against anyone else in class...you're
just working hard to be better than you
were yesterday.
